A Personal God
Our God is a great BIG God, and yet He cares so much for each one of us. He is a personal God, personally concerned about even "the hairs of our head and numbered them." Wow! We can only marvel at a God like that! At the end of my life, I will only know this One and True God as much as I choose to seek Him. The Bible exhorts us, "To seek Him while He may be found." He desires our love, our relationship. Imagine that, the God who created the universes and galaxies actually cares about you, actually cares about me. How wonderful is that? I admit I cannot comprehend that! It is too profound for my finite mind. And yet it is the TRUTH! In the midst of solar systems, swirls of gases and cosmic mysteries, He takes the time to listen to my prayers, to lean in close when I whisper His name, to comfort my heart when I cry out in distress and despair. He is "closer than a brother" and a "refuge in times of trouble." In the days before Scarlett O'Hare, my fellow students and I actually had elementary school teachers who taught us Bible verses and those are the ones that come to my mind first, and foremost. In the fifth grade, her name was Mrs. Kite, and Mrs. Kite made no apology and taught us reading and writing and part of her lesson was a Psalm from the Bible. My favorite one was "I lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He WILL NOT suffer my foot to be moved." And that promise has been fulfilled in my life over and over and over. God is faithful. God is personal. I thank Him for "numbering even the hairs on my head." And that is a job, considering how often I get "color and cut" at the local beauty salon. But He's a great BIG God, He can handle it, and He can handle me. Thank you Lord, for being personal in an impersonal world.
